27th Annual Earth Day Fair & Musical Festival Announced
Mark the date. On Saturday, April 22nd, the 27th Annual Earth Day Fair & Musical Festival will take place at El Chorro Regional Park from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The public is invited to make it YOUR Earth Day by making a donation, entering the Earth Day poster coloring contest, or becoming a sponsor, exhibitor, or volunteer.
The theme for 2017 is simple and to the point: People. Planet. Peace. To add fun to the design of the Earth Day poster, a coloring contest for children will take place during the month of February. The winning artwork will be featured as the Earth Day poster and all submissions will be displayed on ‘the wall’ in the Public Square. Grab your markers, pens, or crayons; the contest ends on February 28, so enter today. The line art and the rules can be found on the Earth Day website, www.earthdayslo.org, or at the Earth Day office, 75 Higuera St. Ste 100, San Luis Obispo.
Meanwhile, 2017 is gearing up to be a big year for climate change deniers. Despite what President Trump has to say, more people are thinking twice about the footprint they are leaving on the planet and Earth Day exhibitors will be driving that message home with a full day of educational and eco-friendly activities. Businesses, nonprofits, government agencies, and students will network with the public and share their message, cause, product, or solution. Highlights of the fair include the Kid’s Zone, a Green Car Show, Marketplace, Health & Fitness Village and two solar powered stages featuring live music and the ‘free speech’ soap box.
