Exhibiting at Earth Day

Exhibiting at Earth Day 2012

April 22, 2012 – 10am to 5pm
El Chorro Regional Park & SLO Botanical Garden

Get Down to Earth!

Present your message, cause, product or service

Is Earth Day right for your group or organization?
The intent of Earth Day is to raise awareness, educate and inspire. A visitor to your exhibit should come away knowing something that will influence their future actions and further their commitment to create a clean, healthy sustainable and prosperous environment.  Exhibits must have a message, cause, product or service that addresses the environment or our quality of life.
In cases where environmental issues are not the primary focus of an organization, the aspects or message of the organization that DO address the environment must be forefront in their presentation.
Earth Day exhibiting is open to all types of organizations: non-profit, for-profit, government agencies, individuals, families, schools, clubs, churches, etc.

The Earth Day Alliance, Inc. reserves the right to decline any exhibitor application for any reason whatsoever.

Where does Earth Day take place?
El Chorro Regional Park  is located across from Cuesta College on Hwy 1 and is also the home of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden, the Aids Memorial Grove and Dairy Creek Golf Course.  All exhibit areas are outside; most exhibit spaces are on grass, a few are on gravel parking lots.  Map

Who attends Earth Day?
At least 1,000 people attended Earth Day in 2011. A broad cross-section of residents and visitors to San Luis Obispo County.  Displays and entertainments are geared for adults and students. The Kid’s zone provides plenty of activities for children of all ages.

Exhibitor fees?
All fees are based on a 10′ x 10′ space and exhibitor class:  Business, government agencies, nonprofit, food and beverage, university/college students and individual, family or public schools.  Additional space is available for an additional fee.  Exhibitor fees help to pay the cost to pay the bills: promotions, insurance, signage,  .

Selling at Earth Day?
This is NOT a flea market or street fair; sales are controlled. All items to be sold must be pre-approved. Non-profit groups are free to sell for their own fund-raising purposes.
For-profit organizations may sell environmentally-relevant goods and services (e.g., products that have significant recycled content, or promote energy or water efficiency and conservation).
Non-fee exhibitors must pay 10% of sales to the Earth Day Alliance at the end of the day.

How to plan for the day
Exhibitor setup will take place from 8am – 9am. The event formally starts at 10am. All exhibitors must remain from setup through the end of the day at 5pm (there is no vehicular traffic through the park during the fair).
The fair ends promptly at 5pm, and breakdown and cleanup begins. Based on how quickly the crowds depart you should be able to leave by about 6pm.

Will Earth Day work for me?
That largely depends on you. If you have an interesting display, a clear message, and an active, engaging staff at your exhibit space, you may hardly have time to catch a bite to eat or take a bathroom break.  It’s amazing wait a positive, happy attitude can do.  Spread the word and invite everyone you know. This will increase your chances of having an even better day.

Applications will be accepted through March 30.  Earth Day 2012 Exhibitor App
Applications received on April 1st or later will be charged a $25 late fee.
