Is Earth Day right for your group or organization?
The intent of Earth Day is to raise awareness, educate and inspire. A visitor to your exhibit should come away knowing something that will influence their future actions and further their commitment to create a clean, healthy sustainable and prosperous environment. Exhibits must have a message, cause, product or service that addresses the environment or our quality of life.
In cases where environmental issues are not the primary focus of an organization, the aspects or message of the organization that DO address the environment must be forefront in their presentation.
Earth Day exhibiting is open to all types of organizations: non-profit, for-profit, government agencies, individuals, families, schools, clubs, churches, etc.
The Earth Day Alliance, Inc. reserves the right to decline any exhibitor application for any reason whatsoever.
Where does Earth Day take place?
El Chorro Regional Park is located across from Cuesta College on Hwy 1 and is also the home of the San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden, the Aids Memorial Grove and Dairy Creek Golf Course. All exhibit areas are outside; most exhibit spaces are on grass, a few may be on gravel parking lots.
Who attends Earth Day?
Consisting of a broad cross-section of residents and visitors to San Luis Obispo County, over 2,000 people attended Earth Day in 2015. Displays and entertainments are geared for adults and students. The Kid’s zone provides activities for children of all ages.
All fees are based on a 10′ x 10′ space and exhibitor class: Business/government agencies, nonprofit, public schools, or College Clubs. Additional space is available for an additional fee. Exhibitor fees help to cover event expenses: promotions, insurance and signage.
Selling at Earth Day?
This is NOT a flea market or street fair; sales are controlled. All items to be sold must be pre-approved. Non-profit groups are free to sell for their own fund-raising purposes. All items sold must be environmentally-relevant goods and services (e.g., products that have significant recycled content, or promote energy or water efficiency and conservation). Any food products sold will require proper health department permits with the County of SLO.
How to plan for the day
Exhibitor setup will take place from 8:00am – 9:30am. The event formally starts at 10:00am and ends promptly at 5:00pm. All exhibits must remain setup until the end of the event when breakdown and cleanup begins. Vehicular traffic will not be allowed in the park during the fair. Based on how quickly the crowd departs you should be able to leave the park by 6:00pm.
Will Earth Day work for me?
That largely depends on you. If you have an interesting display, a clear message, and an active, engaging staff at your exhibit space, you may hardly have time to catch a bite to eat or take a bathroom break. It’s amazing what a positive, happy attitude can do. Spread the word and invite everyone you know. This will increase your chances of having an even better day.

To qualify for the early registration discount your application must be received by February 15. Regular applications must be received on March 31. Late fees apply on April 1 or later.
